As a teenager I was unable to drink the last sip of any liquid out of a cup, bottle or any other container. I couldn't explain it, I just could not make myself do it. I also squeezed my toes as I passed driveways, flexed my knees to mimic the doors in a house and pointed my feet to things that had four feet in the room I was in. Don't even try to understand what I just wrote. ;) As I'm getting older these tendencies have lessened or disappeared completely.
My son Joey absolutely, positively can NOT touch trash or anything that might be construed as belonging to the garbage family. For example, a empty milk container is completely untouchable, even if it had milk in it just moments ago. He also has hand washing issues. Yes, he's my boy.
My girls have their own issues mostly dealing with their clothing, specific spots for toys and food touching food. They have their own trash issues but to a lesser degree then Joe.
My husband has little patience for this kind of stuff. He gets stuck with all the trash duties. He will try to have the kids take the trashout every once in a while but it always ends up a disaster. It is different then disobedience. Unless you're livin' it, you can't understand it.
There is hope though. Tommy, our adopted 2 year old, has no trash issues. He LOVES the trash. He loves the garbage trucks, the garbage man, garbage cans, dumpster... He loves trash. He even, to the complete and utter horror of the other kids, will eat out of the trash.
