Fall

Today is September 1st. Summer is over. There will be no more lazy afternoons poolside, no more playing hide and seek at the park until dark, no more fun summer stuff at all. :-(

I always feel such saddens as summer comes to a close. When I was young we spent every summer at the Jersey Shore at my mom's family’s house in Lavallette. Those summers in NJ are the best memories I have of my childhood. I experienced so many "firsts" at the shore. My first kiss, first crush, first date, all of my most important teenager stuff happened there. I still equate the end of summer with the feelings I had when we had to come back home to Colorado.

This afternoon I took the little guys to the pool for one last lazy afternoon. We dropped Julie off at school and headed out in the blistering 84° sunshine. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Two hours later, it was pouring rain, hailing and lightning. :-( Fall has arrived.

Our ever trusty weather forecaster has tomorrow’s high temp. at 57 °. Whaaaaaaaa

Next week the rat race begins, soccer, swimming, Kung Fu, enrichment classes and school will take over our relaxed summer schedule.

Then we have the seasons of craziness. Megan, Johnny and my brother Sean have October birthdays, Thanksgiving, Timmy’s Birthday, Christmas, Julie, Joey and my dad have January birthdays, February is Thomas’s, March is Dh’s, then Easter…… How many days until Memorial Day?

All my babies will soon be a year older. Being a mother is filled with so many bittersweet moments. I absolutely love watching them grow up into unique individuals but I miss my babies. I truly wish I could freeze time and really enjoy every second of their lives.
