Potty training (the special needs child??)

It's hard for me to know what behaviors Tommy exhibits are the typical “terrible twos” and which are Fetal Alcohol related. I suppose it doesn’t really matter…. I started potty training him this week. He didn’t do so well on the first day. Tom-Tom ended up with wet undies a couple of times each hour despite our many visits to the potty. I would’ve bagged the whole deal but he was 100% successful with pooping in the potty. We are now on day three. Buzz Lightyear did get soaked once this afternoon but overall he is getting the hang of the potty! :-)

My potty training philosophy, if you can call it that, it pretty simple. The diapers go away and the undies come out. That’s it. I don’t use Pull-ups, ever. I don’t put diapers on when we leave the house or for naps or bed. One day they’re in diapers the next day they’re out, said in my best Heidi Klum voice. I do use the plastic covers on the undies for car trips and outing the first week. I also keep a little Baby Bjorn potty in the trunk of the car. I don’t even attempt public bathrooms for a very long time. My other 3 kids were all trained, day and night, by two weeks after their 2nd birthday. Tommy has been about 6 months behind in his milestones. So he is right were he should be. :-)

I can’t even begin to express my delight to only have one little guy in diapers. YEAH!

Isn't that tiny Baby Bjorn potty the best?
