These are my girls: Julie, Rachael, Sarah, Jubilee, and TessOne of the ways I've over extended myself this year was volunteering to be an American Heritage Girl's leader.
AHG is a Christian alternative to Girl Scouts. AHG was started in Ohio in the early nineties. We are the second Colorado troop, Troop 0002!
I was all set to lead the Tenderfoot age girls, 1st-3rd grade. However, no one stepped up to steer the Kindergarten aged Pathfinders. I foolishly accepted the position. ;-)
Don’t underestimate the stamina it takes to keep five, five year olds happy and entertained until 8pm on a school night. I work extremely hard to ensure that the girls are having fun. I totally see it as my job to make them want to come back. We do a craft, read a story, sing songs and play games at each meeting. I turn into a raving lunatic ushering the girls from one activity to another when I sense boredom or sleepiness. It certainly is a challenge to my overachieving personality to end the night without any tears or complaining.
Don't let the cute faces fool you. They're really a bunch of monkeys.
Last night was our 1st celebration. We invited friends and families to witness the girl’s award ceremony. Every single one of the Pathfinder parents thanked me. They all emphasized how much their girls enjoyed the meetings and how funny they thought I was. BONUS! They might be bunch of liars but I’ll take what I can get.
