Fine Art Friday

The girls' school has a yearly fundraiser through Original Works. Basically, the art teacher picks a piece of artwork from each child, sends it end, and they make clothing, notepads, nightlights, towels and what not out of their masterpieces. We usually purchase a garden flag for Grandma and various other little trinkets to give away at Christmas.

Last Friday, Julie came home with a magnet of her artwork and a letter from the company. I assumed it was an apology letter staring that something happened to the order and the magnet was never sent out. I was about to throw it away (the letter not the magnet) when something caught my eye. Apparently, they chose Julie's piece to use in their upcoming catalogs and website and they wanted a signed release from me. How cool is that?

This is her piece, unfortunately it is a bit smeared now. She used oil pastels so it is kind of smudgy. It was much "crisper" in September.

PS. Please don't tell me if your child was also picked. I'd like to believe I have a talented artist on my hands not a ploy from their marketing department. ;-)
