End of the Year Craziness

Today was pure craziness. Joey, Megan, and Julie had their track and field days at two different schools. Thomas had his last day of preschool performance and picnic. John and I drove across town several times. It was crazy fun. I ran the three legged race three times. Lol that was quite a scene.

Unfortunately, my camera died when I tried to take the first picture first thing this morning.
:(

I was a bit disappointed in all three kids performances. For goodness sake they swim 10-12 hours each week. Most of their competition looked to be of the video game playing, TV watching, Burger King lovin variety. Yet my athletic children lost, time and time again, to these couch potatoes. I did my best to not be the crazy parent screaming from the sidelines. I'm not sure what their deal was but I was disappointed. I made a few comments but the children apparently didn't care if they won or not. They just wanted to have fun. Good grief. They certainly didn't get that from me. ;) We'll have to work on that before next year. Thank goodness they are competitive in their swimming, or I couldn't cheer them on. j/k, kinda

Thomas doesn't understand that school is done for the summer. Every time someone mentions that it's his last day or that school is over he smiles and says "No, you're so silly! My bus comin' tomorrow!"

Last week Julie had her kindy graduation and Joey starred in a play and had his 5th grade graduation.

The three big kids are now swimming 2 hours a day, 5 days a week until the end of August. We are done with Kung Fu until September. Thank goodness. With gas prices so high I'm glad to mark one destination off the list. The first summer league swim meet is in Baily CO next Friday. That's the little town where the crazy man molested and held a high school class captive before killing a young girl. I suppose that I'll always think of that story when we go there. It's so sad.

Tomorrow is the very last day of school for the other kids. I can't believe it's summer already!

We have activities every single night for the next two weeks. Piano and guitar recitals, end of year parties, swim team pot luck dinners, CCD graduation, officials meeting (that's for another post), and so on...
