It's almost October! That means birthday season and ski trips are just around the corner. Tomorrow the kids get their boards and skis for the season. Then the waiting game begins. My parents got Dh and the kiddos season tix to Arapahoe Basin Or A-Basin as the locals call it. :) Last year opening day was Oct. 13th.
The kids are wicked excited. There's tons of intermediate and expert trails and they are opening a 400-acre bowl this year. I'm more than a little nervous but I know how much they love it.
Montezuma Bowl, located on the backside of Arapahoe Basin, will be the nation's largest terrain expansion for the 2007-2008 ski season. The bowl is scheduled to open for the holidays in late December.
The new terrain will include blue, black and double black slopes for a total of 36 additional runs. The skier and rider will discover cornices, chutes, glades and wide-open bowls. Several runs will be groomed nightly, providing the intermediate guest with much coveted additional cruising terrain. Hike-back terrain past the lower lift terminal will also be available for the adventurous skier or rider who has more interest in experiencing a remote, back country feel.
Sadly I wont be hitting the slopes. I'll be too busy hitting the books. I also can't risk an injury that would take me out of the nursing program.
I will be taking John and Tommy up at least once during winter break. Johnny will be old enough to safely ride up the lift and I know they'd love to fly down the bunny hills. :-)
