I don't have any memories of doing homework in my elementary years. I'm sure I must have done it, but I can't recall a single homework recollection. I do remember 1st grade. We played a lot of games and took a nap every afternoon. Huh. My children all seem to have an inordinate amount of schoolwork each and every night. On one hand I'm glad that they're filling up their brains with so much knowledge but on the other I'm exhausted. Hey, it's a lot of work to check the assigment folders and sign all the completed work. ;-)
Julie, being in first grade, obviously has the least, but still a significant amount. Last week she had a space project and a book report plus the nightly math, grammar, Spanish and reading. Frankly, it's a lot. After spending 7+ hours in school I really feel they need some down time. Anyhow, the kids don't seem to mind and were fitting it all in. So why am I complaining? Yeah, I'm not sure. I suppose this is my introduction to a blatant mommy brag. ;)
I thought she did a "blog worthy" job on her book report so I'm posting it. Actually, she does a great job on all her assignments but I only took a picture of this one.
I thought the book was a bit difficult for a first grader but the teacher insisted she could read it. It took a while, a long while (over an hour) but she eventually read the entire thing. The "report" part took about ten minutes. Lol It's in box form and she put a red jewel in the middle as the "object" from the story.
Sylvester and the Magic Pebble (It's one of my favorites)

I thought it was cute.

That is a cute report! I remember my mom reading me this book and I've read it to my kids. I'm one for happy endings too! :)
