Back to school

Yesterday was my first day back. So far, I'm not very impressed with day classes. I felt like I was back in high school. There is such a sharp contrast between the daytime and night classes.

The halls were cramped with teenagers wearing flip flops and carrying $500 purses.

I'm officially old. And cranky.

The classes themselves look to be quite easy. We spent the entire class periods of each class going over the syllabus. Seriously. Not only did the Sociology teacher give us her life story, but she also had the entire class introduce themselves and share anything they wanted. It was strange indeed.

I'm used to the science classes were they expect you to find the syllabus on line on your own time and the instructors who barely introduce themselves before launching into vital lecturing.

I didn’t even need to take my notebook out of my backpack the entire day.

My literature class was definitely not what I was expecting. First, the teacher handed out note cards. She asked us to write our first name on the front and something we are proud of on the back. Then she split us up into groups based on our preference of salty or sweet treats. Once we were in the designated groups she split us into smaller groups. When we were down to 3-4 people per group she asked us to introduce ourselves to each other and then return to our seats. Then she told us to put the note cards away and she put in the movie Hamlet, the one with Mel Gibson. Apparently, we will be spending the next four class periods of a literature class watching a movie.

I have absolutely no homework due tomorrow. I don’t even have anything I'm supposed to be studying for. It feels so strange. I’m welcoming the change of pace for it will be short lived. The nursing program this fall is going to kick my butt.
