Mountain High

The girls, Johnny and I went on a 1 mile hike with our AHG troop. The four of us decided to continue on to the falls, another 4 miles. The thought of turning around at a random spot on the trail is too much for my OCD ridden children. This is especially true on a trial we've hiked hundreds of times in the past. "I don't understand. We can't turn around now! That wouldn't work at all. Please, mom, please let us go to the falls!"

It was absolutely beautiful. The sounds, sights and mountain air were perfect.

Wow, mom, that's one big bird!

Sisters

You might be wondering why I'm the only one wearing sneakers. The truth is that my darling daughters both had complete meltdowns when I told them to put theirs on. "BUT MOM! WE CAN"T GET OUR NEW SCHOOL SHOES DIRTY BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!" "Please, please let us wear our flip flops!" So I did. That's just the kind of mom I am.

(They don't look too traumatized. Is it wrong that I secretly hoped they'd complain about their lack of comfort just so I'd get to practice my "I told you so" lecture?)

We are making the most of today and tomorrow. School starts back on Wednesday. I'm really going to miss them. *sob*
